Make Gmail Ubuntu's default email client

Ever since moving to Gmail I have missed the feature of clicking a “contact us” link and having it open a new mail message, waiting to be sent.
Thanks to a wonderfully simple tip from howtogeek I can now do that with Gmail. Follow the instructions here to make Gmail your default email client on Ubuntu Linux.
